The Board of Beacon of Hope and Joy is comprised of volunteer workers that have devoted their time to being advocates for the vulnerable orphaned children in Zimbabwe.
Ti Chabata , Chairperson
Tariro is married with two children. She was born in Sanyati, Zimbabwe one of the areas where Beacon of Hope and Joy is sponsoring orphans. Before coming to the United States to study, she worked for 11 years as a secretary at Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation. She holds a BS in accounting degree, MBA in Management and is working towards her Doctorate in International Business. She currently is working as an Assistant Accounting Manager at a Private Equity Firm in Dallas, TX. She has a passion to reach out to the needy children of Zimbabwe.
Win Hatt, Treasurer
Win taught physical education and coached for over 30 years in New York state. His coaching career included football, basketball, track and field and cross-country. His teams won numerous section and state championships. He was famous for his gym shows that drew over 2,000 parents and children each year. Win received his undergraduate degree from Spring field College and his master’s degree from Southern Illinois University with 30 postgraduate hours from George Peabody College. Win heads the Wesley Mission Center food pantry at First United Methodist Chruch in Mansfield TX. He also collects wheelchairs for Wheels for the World, and works for Metro-study.
Ginny Hatt, Secretary
Ginny taught elementary school for 14 years after teaching physical education at the high school and college levels. She completed her undergraduate degree at Washington University and Master’s degree at Nazareth College. Win and she have 3 children and 4 grandchildren all living in Texas. Ginny coordinates the First United Methodist Chruch in Mansfield TX library and works for B-Connected. Win and Ginny have always been involved with children’s education and have a passion for all children to have the opportunity to reach their potential and be able to give back to their community.
The Chairperson - Mrs. Joyce Muchechetere
She is responsible in articulating the vision and policies of organization,convening and presiding meetings, representing organization at national,international or public fora and have overall control of the organization.
Vice Chairperson - Mr. Orten Mawire
He is responsible for acting as chairperson in her absence. Also assisting the chairperson in the efficient and effective running of the organization.
Secretary - Mrs. Modesta Mawire
She is responsible for maintaining records and documentation of the organization. Maintaining confidentiality and ensuring that all minutes are kept in a secure place.
Treasurer - Mr. Robby Phillip
He is responsible for ensuring maintenance of sound financial records and systems of the organization. Work closely with the director and chairperson to prepare agreed periodic budgets and present them to executive board and to prepare financial reports for general meetings.
Committee members – Mr. Andrew a Muchechetere, Mrs. Tawona Susan Elizabeth Mtshiya, Mrs. Mavis Mukaro, Ms. Sally Chademana, Mrs. Hope Phillip
They shall form part of the deliberative executive committee meetings and shall participate fully in all matters under discussion during executive meetings. They assume duties assigned to them by the executive committee.
Sanyati BOHJ Committee:
Mrs Eunice Sithole, Mr Patrick Wasarirevu, Mrs Rev S Dhliwayo,Rev Philemon Satiya, Councillor of ward in office.
The committte is responsible for coordinating activites in Sanyati area, assist in groundwork and distribution of gifts. Work as means of communication between Beacon Board and the beneficiaries in the area. Perform any other responsbilites assigned by the Board.
